Dr. Mary Bellama
Dr. Mary Bellama obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland in 2015. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences – Genetics, Cell, and Developmental Biology from Arizona State University and the prestigious Barrett Honors College.
At the University of Maryland, Dr. Bellama was recognized for clinical excellence by her instructors by acceptance into an Honors Clerkship for implant dentistry and was awarded the International Congress of Oral Implantologists’ Achievement Award upon graduation. Her peers also held her in high regard, as she was elected to leadership positions within student organizations and represented the university at the American Association of Women Dentists national conference.
Prior to distinguishing herself as a talented clinician and well-regarded leader within in the field of dentistry, Dr. Bellama was the recipient of numerous accolades as a National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division I gymnast while attending Arizona State University. She was an NCAA First Team All-American, recognized as the Pacific-10 Conference Student-Athlete of the Year, was a Pacific-10 All-Conference Gymnastics Team Selection, and the Heather Farr Award Recipient for excellence in athletics, academics, leadership, sportsmanship, and commitment to service and the community.
Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Bellama built a successful private practice in Arizona before expanding her clinical skills working in dental public health in Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. territory in the western Pacific Ocean. While practicing in Saipan, she worked alongside physicians of a variety of specialties to develop and implement programs to treat and improve the oral health of children, pregnant women, and individuals battling oral cancer. She routinely provided care to young children under general anesthesia in surgical theater.
Dr. Bellama is a member of the American Association of Women Dentists and a certified Invisalign provider. She also holds a certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Bellama spends time with her husband and two daughters. They enjoy taking their two Shiba Inus to the park and finding fun ways to stay active and healthy as a family. She enjoys traveling with her family, exploring new places, and teaching her daughters the joys of trying new and wonderful foods.
She and her family moved to West Hartford in 2022 when her husband accepted a professorship at the University of Hartford. They and their two daughters have quickly taken to the people and communities of the West Hartford area and look forward to many years here.
